The expression builder is used to create an expression, the result of which will be used as the value assigned to the action parameter. The expression builder is useful when the action parameter value is computable, i.e. it is calculated according to a certain formula.
Clicking on the expression builder button 
will open a form with tabs: Studio actions, operators, results, resources.
You can choose resources in your robot by navigating to the «Resources» tab:
