The order of actions when entering the ROBIN Player application:

  1. Launch the application by double clicking on the application icon.
  2. Clicking on the application icon in the taskbar will open the main window with tabs.
      • For Standalone edition authorization is not required to access the software, the access right is granted after installing the license file.
      • For Cloud edition authorization is performed by the key from the CFR portal, which is entered by the user during installation.
      • For the Enterprise edition it is necessary to enter the user login and password and click the [Login] button.
Note! Login and password are provided to the user by the System Administrator.

  3. After logging in to the application, the main window with tabs will open:

Log in to ROBIN Robot Player Standalone

The procedure for entering the ROBIN Player (Standalone) application:

  1. Launch the application by double-clicking on the application icon. Authorization is not required to access the application, access rights are granted after installing the license file Obtaining and installing a license file for ROBIN Studio and ROBIN Robot
  2. After logging into the application, the main tabbed window will open:

Log in to ROBIN Robot Player Enterprise

When operating ROBIN Robot in an infrastructure with ROBIN Orchestrator installed, the user undergoes an authentication and authorization procedure to gain access to the application. Logging in to ROBIN Robot Player Enterprise depends on the delivery variant and the connection to one of the Orchestrator versions.

When launching Player Enterprise, the "Login" window is always displayed first, even if a login has already been performed previously. This window is followed by the interface of Robin Robot Player Enterprise version - the left panel, where you can only go to "Settings" . In the lower left corner is the Agent connection status Indicator , when you move the cursor to it, the tooltip "Robin Robot Player is connected to Agent, Agent is connected to Orchestrator" pops up.

The main frame with buttons to control the application window ("Close", "Collapse", etc.) is clickable. If the Agent connection status Indicator  is grayed out, it means that Robot Player is not connected to the Agent, the Agent is not launched and is not connected to the Orchestrator. It is necessary to reconnect the Agent.

3. Click the "Log in" button. A tab will open in your default browser to continue the login process.

If you accidentally close the opened tab, you can click the "Log in" button again - it is always clickable, and clicking it again will open another tab in the browser to continue the login process.

4. If you have previously logged in to the System (via the Robin Player application or to work with the Orchestrator web user interface), the browser tab that opens will display:

In this case, you do not need to enter the credentials again. If the role "ROBIN Robot Player Enterprise User" exists, the System will automatically authorize the login to ROBIN Robot Player Enterprise: it will hide the "Log in" window and display the application interface on the list of robot projects.

5. If you have not logged in to the System before or have already logged out of the System, you should log in on the opened browser tab as described below.

6. In general, you can log in to the System:

    • under an internal user account with login and password entry
    • under an external user account without entering login and password (domain authentication)

For more details on internal and external users, please refer to the section "Access Control" - "Tenant Users".

6.1. Internal user login

You can only log in as an internal user if the Robin:

    • Active Directory interaction has not been configured

      or

    • Active Directory interaction has been configured, but you are not currently working in a domain (i.e. you are not working on a PC/server under a domain account)

In this case, logging in to the System will be as follows:

    1. First, the browser will display a window on the opened tab:

    2. It should be skipped by clicking on the "Cancel" button.
    3. The authorization page will open, where you need to specify the login and password of the internal user Robin:

    4. Click the "Log in" button. Since only one tenant is available in the current release, the system will log in to it by default (more information about tenants in the "General principles of access control" section).

6.2. External user login

Logging in under an external user account is only possible if the Robin platform has been configured to interact with Active Directory and the User is currently working in a domain (i.e. the PC/server has a user under a domain account).

In this case, the login will be as follows:

    1. On the browser tab that opens, the system will automatically attempt to log in with the same domain account with which you logged in to the PC/server. You do not need to specify your username and password again.
    2. The login will be successful if:
      • the domain account of the User is added to the Robin platform database as an external user
      • the external User is not blocked
      • the external User is added to at least one tenant
    3. If at least one of the conditions is not met, a page with login and password fields will be opened (see step 2 in the description of internal user login). On this page you can try to log in under the internal user, if such a user was created for the User.

7. After successful login under the internal or external user, the browser tab will display:

8. If the User has the "ROBIN Robot Player Enterprise User" role, the system will allow the User to log in to ROBIN Robot Player Enterprise: hide the "Log in" window and display the application interface on the list of robot projects.

9. You can close the tab in the browser. ROBIN Robot Player Enterprise remains open.

Note!

All of the above requirements for the login window should only apply to ROBIN Robot Player Enterprise configured to work with web Orchestrator (i.e. when StorageType=REST is specified during installation).

If ROBIN Robot Player Enterprise is configured to work with a version of Orchestrator prior to version 2.3.0, the log in window will work as before.

Instances of non-standard behavior

Each time you open a tab in the browser, the timeout period for the login operation starts on the ROBIN Robot Player Enterprise side.

If ROBIN Robot Player Enterprise has not received a response to its request and the timeout period has expired, the following message will appear in the Login window:

If the user is logged in but does not have the "ROBIN Robot Player Enterprise User" role, the following message appears in the Login window:

Interaction of ROBIN Player with other components

ROBIN Agent. ROBIN Player passes information about the robot executor (ROBIN Executor - decrypts and executes program robot packets) to the ROBIN Agent, which is installed on the same host. The applications mutually authenticate each other before starting a work session.
